However, the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization does certify as specialists those attorneys who have demonstrated to the Board a special knowledge, skill, and proficiency in a field of law. An attorney who has received board certification in a field of law may represent that he or she has been certified as a legal specialist.
